The LOTTO Strzegom Horse Trials once again captured the attention of the entire European equestrian scene. The event hosted the FEI Eventing Nations Cup, featuring nearly 300 horses and riders from 22 countries.
It was also during these competitions that the Polish Eventing Championships were held – both in the youth and senior categories. Fierce competition and challenging weather conditions made the fight for medals especially thrilling.
Swedish team triumphs in the Nations Cup
The final challenge on the Moravian course proved to be a real test for all teams. In the individual competition, it was the French pair Amaury Choplain and Gin Tonic D’Aury who claimed the top spot.
However, it was the team competition that drew the most attention. After a strong performance in the cross-country phase, the Swedish women took the lead – and held onto it until the end. Consistent rounds from Jenny Glebenius, Amanda Staam, and Stina Arosenius secured the team's victory and a spot at the top of the podium.
“We are grateful to have represented Sweden here in Strzegom in the Nations Cup. It’s a real joy to compete here as a team,” said the Swedish riders - full interview:
The Polish team also held onto their previously secured second place. Daria Kobiernik, Joanna Pawlak, Aleksandra Malicka-Nowacka, and Mateusz Kiempa delivered solid and confident rides, ensuring their position just behind the leaders.
Germany moved up to third place thanks to standout performances by Heike Jahncke, winner of the cross-country phase, and Jens Hoffrogge, riding a horse bred in Poland.
Unstoppable Champion – Zuzanna Społowicz wins Polish Junior Championship for the third time
This year’s Polish Junior Eventing Championship once again belonged to Zuzanna Społowicz and her reliable partner Bankier. For the third consecutive time, this pair showed their ability to handle pressure and perform across all phases.
The battle for gold was not easy – Patrycja Urbaniak on Aristo A-Z was close behind until the very end, with the challenging cross-country phase deciding the final result. Interestingly, Patrycja also defended her title as runner-up from last year.
Nadia Niebieszczańska, riding Lassban Radovix, completed the podium in third place.
“With Bankier, we achieved our best dressage score ever. The cross-country felt great – he’s a seasoned horse. Today’s show jumping wasn’t quite his day, but he still gave 100%. Actually, he always does – he gives his whole heart,” said Zuzanna Społowicz after her win - full interview:
Weronika Król – Polish Young Riders Champion
A beautiful sporting story with a perfect ending – Weronika Król, who finished third last year, captured gold in the Young Riders category this year.
Together with Chinuk R, she left no doubts, showcasing great form from start to finish.
Zuzanna Borkowska on Gracja claimed silver, while Katarzyna Brandys riding Sel Oscar took bronze. It was an intense weekend that confirmed the tremendous potential of Poland’s younger generation of riders.
“It was intense and tough, but we’re very happy with the result, and that’s what matters. Chinuk’s strength is the cross-country – he’s powerful, has a great gallop, and jumps well. We’ve only been working together for a year, so we’re still getting to know each other. After every show, I learn more about him and we’re becoming a better team,” said gold medalist Weronika Król - full interview:
A brilliant victory for Daria Kobiernik on her Thoroughbred
Daria Kobiernik’s consistently strong performances throughout the event left no doubt – the title of Polish Senior Champion was well-deserved. Her win, riding the Thoroughbred Chodów, was the result of solid preparation and a well-executed plan.
Last year’s champion Joanna Pawlak, riding Armin de Monsieur, took silver, while Aleksandra Malicka-Nowacka, on Quintesence Red Wine, secured bronze, maintaining her podium position from last year.
“Chodek is special. He’s a full Thoroughbred, and I think that’s what makes him stand out. I believe a miracle happened. I felt very well-prepared for this event and sensed that he was in great form. We’ve been working together for a long time. It’s been a slow, steady journey, but one that paid off. Today I really asked him to give his best in the show jumping – and he did,” said Daria Kobiernik - full interview:
The Strzegom competition once again proved that this venue holds a special place on the equestrian map, combining top-level sport with a unique atmosphere and passion that fuels the discipline.
And we’re not done yet – from August 20–24, the Moravian hippodrome will come alive once again, hosting the European Championships for Young Riders and Juniors.
