The German team has kept their lead after the demanding four-star course in the Nations Cup class at LOTTO Strzegom Horse Trials. The British team is now second, and third position belongs to the Dutch.
Michael Jung (GER) is the new individual leader with fischerChipmunk FRH.
“fischerChipmunk is an amazing horse. It is a wonderful feeling to ride him. In the dressage he was really good. In cross country, full of energy, jumping very good everywhere. I still do not push him too much forward. We are still working on our good partnership; we need to grow together to make a good team. I am very happy with him, he was jumping very good.”
Changes in the lead were caused by many riders going over the optimum time on the cross-country. Leader after dressage, Tim Lips, went only 6 seconds slower than Jung, but that knocked him down to the second position. Third place currently belongs to Ben Hobday (GBR) with Shadow Man, who was fourth after dressage.
The Polish team moved up into the fifth position in the Nations Cup classification. The best score belongs to Jan Kamiński with the polish-bred Senior, as they went clear over the cross country only with time penalties, which placed them at the 21st position after the two trials.
“The cross country course was very demanding, with difficult technical combinations since the beginning. As we suspected, they required a lot of work. My ride today surely was not perfect, because I had a few dangerous moments. But the experience I have with Senior has paid off. He put his heart into every jump. I’m not a hundred percent happy, mainly because of a few mistakes on the combinations.”
The cross-country for the CCI4*-L, the most difficult at Strzegom Horse Trials, brought changes in the leaderboard. The new leader, after his clear ride, is Yoshiaki Oiwa (JPN) with Bart L JRA.
“The cross today was technical enough. There was a lot of gallop between the fences, so probably if you have a fast horse it is easier to have good time. My horse has a big counter, but not a thoroughbred type, so I had to ride really forward between the fences, but in the end he jumped very well and I am really pleased with him.”
Second for now is Christoph Wahler (GER) with Ignatz 22, and third – Felix Vogg (SUI) with Archie Rocks. Dirk Schrade, who was in the lead after dressage, moved down into the 9th place after going over the optimum time. Polish rider Jacek Jeruzal finished the cross country at the 16th position, with 23 competing overall.
The new leader in the CCI3*-L class is Brigitte Peterhans (SUI) with Grecvol de Lully, and in the CCI2*-L, Katrin Norling jumped up from the second place to take the lead with Hulliebullie.
The CCI2*-P class for ponies has finished today, and the winner was Camilla Luciani (ITA) with Morelands Affair.
Showjumping trials took place today for the short format classes and for the national ones. The current leaders are:
CCI3*-S: Michael Jung (GER) with Creevagh Cooley
CCI2*-S: Dirk Schrade (GER) with Dajara 4
CCI1* Intro: Felix Vogg (SUI) with Viscina K.
CNC2:* Wiktoria Spisak (POL) and Strona II
CNC L: Weronika Król (POL) with Greenline
CNC LL: Daria Kobiernik (POL) and Polagris
